Sustainability

“Don’t be an asshole” is integral to our core values and that obviously counts towards our planet too. We looove Mother Nature, dudes - HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WONDROUS ORB?!

So, it almost goes without saying that mindful action through sustainable choices is woven into our work… and so is transparency! We’re sharing the ways we’re working on our eco-conscious repertoire not to simply earn a Scouts Merit Badge or anything, but to prove that every small decision can lead to big change.

This is our starting point. We know there’s still a lot to learn and take action on, and we're keen lil’ beans, eager to see how these practices morph as we grow.

Over 80% of our transport is by bike or public transport

We win at packing like it’s Tetris, and because our team always knows every detail about a job before they leave, they only need to bring the necessary tools with them. With a bit of planning there’s no need for a van full of tools - we’re able to reach most of our customers without a car. This also means that people don’t need a driving license to work with us - a totally unnecessary blocker to employment.

WE LOVE CAR SHARING

Sometimes we need to move big, heavy things (here’s looking at you 2.5m ladder) so we use car sharing. If you ever find yourself curious and need to know the exact max dimensions of what you can fit in every different Miles car… Ask us ;)

(ALMOST) PLASTIC FREE renovations

We swapped out our floor and surface protection for paper, and use water-based products wherever possible

We still use plastic dust sheets to cover furniture and here’s why: carrying reusable fabric drop cloths means our team has to travel by car, and we figured that one plastic dust sheet per job (super light & small - we’re talking fit in a jacket pocket small) is a better compromise than several car journeys to move a bulky fabric dust sheet around (the same dimensions would fit into a large rucksack).

REPAIR BEFORE REPLACE

We will always help you try and repair your furniture - when it makes sense. If your 15-year-old Ikea bed is falling apart, we’re not going to take your money to fix something beyond repair.

We do know some awesome carpenters though if you fancy an upgrade :)
